Ultra Worldwide announces Resistance Mexico City 2018

Ultra Worldwide has announced the return of its Resistance concept to Mexico City in 2018. The underground techno, tech-house and house focused event returns as a standalone festival from the 25th – 27th May at Club De Golf in Teotihuacán.

Resistance made its Mexico City debut in 2017 as part of the larger Ultra Mexico City festival. Resistance Mexico City 2018 is the concept’s first foray into a standalone three-day festival and arrives as Ultra celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Since its debut, various Resistance events have been curated in Shanghai, Tokyo, the UK, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Chile, Ibiza, Lima along with the seminal Miami festival.

Ultra Music Festival continues to hold the title of ‘The World’s No. 1 Festival’ according to DJ Mag readers. As previously announced, Carl Cox, Resistance’s global ambassador, will host a Dubfire, Nicole Moudaber and Paco Osuna b2b2b at Ultra Miami’s Megastructure on Saturday 24th March. At Ultra Miami’s ‘Spider’, J.E.S.u.S (Jackmaster, Eats Everything, Skream and Seth Troxler), Better Lost Than Stupid (Davide Squillace, Mattias Tanzmann & Martin Buttrich), Sasha & John Digweed, Christian Smith b2b B.Traits, Carlo Lio b2b Marco Bailey, Technasia b2b Hector and Guti b2b wAFF have all been locked to play.

Line-ups for the standalone Resistance festival anticipated shortly.

Spring Awakening locks deadmau5, Alison Wonderland, Tiësto, Sasha & John Digweed, more

Spring Awakening Music Festival has lined up Alison Wonderland, deadmau5, Oliver Heldens, Tiësto, Sasha & John Digweed and more for its three-day 2018 event, which is set to run 8th through 10th June at at Addams/Medill Park in Chicago.

Other acts billed for the June fiesta include techno dons Dubfire, Josh Wink and Lee Burridge, alongside EDM stars Steve Aoki, Hardwell and Slushii, plus a performance from Porter Robinson’s new alias Virtual Self.

DJ Mag is also set to host a stage at this year’s party with EDM hero Nicky Romero set to headline and acts like Cash Cash, Deorro, Destructo and Grandtheft on support.

Spring Awakening’s much-loved trance stage, aptly titled the Trance Arena, is also set to return in 2018 with Markus Schulz, Cosmic Gate, Aly & Fila and more all on the bill.

Other stages of note include the Bass Kitchen, which will explore gritty, bass-driven sounds, Sunday School, which will champion the coolest house and techno cuts, and Requiem, which will play host to more minimal, stripped down sonics.

The Prodigy announce their only UK festival gig of 2018

The Prodigy have been announced to play Victorious Festival in Portsmouth this August, their only UK festival appearance of 2018.

The legendary rave trio will headline the Sunday night of the south coast festival, which runs from 24th to 26th of August. Other acts confrimed to play that day include Example & DJ Wire and Friendly Fires and more. Happy Mondays and Paul Weller are both locked to play on the Saturday along with the likes of Paloma Faith, Everything Everything and Billy Bragg.

Taking place at Southsea Seafront over the bank holiday weekend, Victorious promises to be a great weekend with a wide array of acts and a decent spread of genres.

The Prodigy bringing their infamous and inimitable live show to the Portsmouth festival comes after the group revealed they would be releasing a new album at some point this year.

Tickets for Victorious are on sale now, with Friday early bird tickets available for just £30.  Saturday and Sunday tickets cost £35 per day and can be purchased from the festival’s website.



David Guetta’s BIG residency will return to Ushuaïa Ibiza in 2018

David Guetta is set to return to the While Isle this summer with the EDM star locked for another season of his BIG residency at luxe nightclub Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel.

Manning the club’s decks for six years and counting, Guetta will play an extended run of dates in 2018 kicking off on 4th June through to 24th September.

Speaking about his residency, David said: ”I’m so excited to be back at Ushuaïa with BIG for another summer season on my favorite island. I love to spend my summers in Ibiza and to play that amazing venue. It will be my seventh year working together with the Ushuaïa team and I can’t wait to return! Expect amazing lineups and a BIG production!”

With global sales in excess of 50 million albums and singles, as well as over 10 billion plays on YouTube and Spotify, David Guetta released his first songbook at the close of last year with music and lyrics to 42 of his biggest hits.


Kappa FuturFestival locks Joseph Capriati, Derrick May, Adam Beyer, Marco Carola, Luciano, more

Kappa FuturFestival has dropped its phase one line-up for 2018. Joseph Capriati, Derrick May and Adam Beyer are among those locked to perform the Italian festival’s seventh edition.

Marco Carola, Solomun, Ilario Alicante and Luciano were also included in the initial 2018 artist announcement. According to a press release, 30 more artists are yet to be announced.

The premiere electronic music festival is expected to draw 50,000 techno lovers. In 2018, the organisers are adding an extra stage alongside the iconic hangers, thus expanding the whole festival area from 45k sqm to 65k sqm.

The festival has also partnered with 28 European organizations for a research project into the Internet of Things technologies. This project spans ticketing and on-site cashless system.

Kappa Futur runs 7th through 8th July in Torino, Italy. A weekend pass is only €60. €40 for single day passes.

Tiësto extends Las Vegas residency until 2020

Tiësto is set to remain a Las Vegas fixture into the new decade. Hakkasan Group, the operator of the Hakkasan Nightclub and Wet Republic, has extended the DJ’s residency through to 2020.

“It is an honor to return to Hakkasan Group and to continue my residencies at Hakkasan Nightclub and Wet Republic,” provides Tiësto. “Vegas has come to feel like home, and through my residency with Hakkasan Group, I feel proud of the space we’ve created here for dance music. I look forward to many more opportunities to be inspired by this incredible city in venues that are consistently full of energy.”

The 2018 Hakkasan season for Tiësto starts on 11th January.

Drumcode Festival locks Nicole Moudaber, Amelie Lens, Pan-Pot, more

Drumcode Festival has announced the first wave of names for its inaugural event, which include December’s DJ Mag cover star, Nicole Moudaber, Adam Port b2b &Me, Amelie Lens, Pan-Pot, Nick Curly, La Fleur, Reset Robot, and Tiger Stripes.

As you’d expect, the label bossman, Adam Beyer, will be in full effect, along with a host of familiar faces from the stable. So far that means Bart Skils, Boxia, Dense & Pika, Enrico Sangiuliano, Harvey McKay, Ida Engberg, Ilario Alicante, Joel Mull, Joseph Capriati, Layton Giordani, Luigi Madonna and Roberto Capuano, Marco Faraone, and Pig & Dan.

Set for Saturday 18th August in the industrial haven of Amsterdam’s NDSM Docklands, already home to the likes of DGTL Festival, we can confirm the Drumcode extravaganza will involve production from Dutch legends Awakenings, four stages, and a lot of techno.
